Leo had spent all of his life in Montana, taking after his father’s footsteps with a twist. Now running a rescue sanctuary full time, his dreams were coming true, but the only thing missing was someone to share those dreams with, who truly loved him, not the “idea” of being with him. But unfortunately, too many false princesses have crossed his path, and he was almost jaded to the fact that his true love could not exist anymore.
He did have hope, but very little. Having invested well, as his father had taught him over the years, he had a bright future. Leaning into the rescues had rescued him in many ways, but at the end of the day, he longed to spend time with someone who longed to spend time with him. For now, he had his furry herd.
Layla’s letter changed her life within a couple of days. From New York to Montana, she was able to leave her hopelessness in the smog of the city and very quickly realized there was much more to enjoy in Montana than her uncle’s inheritance. Not a country girl anymore, those days passed with her youth, Layla had to relearn the lay of the land, and Leo was there just in time to be an excellent guide.
From fresh egg fetching to shopping for her wardrobe at the feed store, Layla learned to lean into her newfound life. This new chapter in her life was genuinely enjoyable, especially since it did not include cocktail parties and drunk nights pretending to have fun while wishing she was at home listening to the feline battles in the alley below. Instead, Layla watched the stars in the clear sky devoid of light pollution and constant plane traffic. The sounds of frogs and crickets are the best white noise she has heard in a very long time.
As children, they played at the lake, swinging on the tire swing, splashing until exhausted, and laughing until the sun started to settle over the mountains with no cares in the world. Their summers were full of living fully as a child. As it should be, but neither of them realizes what life holds for them. Finally, they are face to face again after experiencing life on their terms, defined by desires and career goals.
All the elements fall into place in this love-soaked story of honest, deep love. From childhood friends to lovers, Leo and Layla discover that sometimes the unexpected is the best surprise.

Good does happen in the world. Layla and Leo help us to remember that. I especially liked Layla’s response to Ally and Leo’s son Gene. What made this story refreshing was Layla and Leo’s awareness of who they were as individuals and giving those around them respect and understanding. Sometimes you just need a book with less drama and more understanding and this book fits the bill! 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Layla receives a letter and finds herself moving from New York to Montana. Her childhood friend, Leo lives in Montana and their friendship as children blossoms into so much more.
I felt that the romance between Layla and Leo was day by day and not rushed. The characters and the scenes were very well described and I could picture each one.
I found this book to be a page-turner, wanting to see what would happen next.

I have read several of Nessa Nichols books and enjoy the sweet short stories. Layla returns to Montana for her beloved uncle’s funeral and discovers she is the sole heir. A blessing since her life was in a rut in NY. And then she bumps into her childhood friend Leo, someone she had a crush on even if he was dorky. What Leo never knew was the girl in his past had a crush on him as he did on her. Their HEA is typical, but the animals in the story will give you a good laugh! I really enjoyed this book! Layla and Leo are characters you will root for as they figure out how to overcome their fears and take a chance on love. This story flies by. This would make a good beach read with a fruity drink. Enjoy!

New Beginings by Nessa Nichols
This is a short sweet contemporary romance. I liked the characters and thought the storyline was very enjoyable. There were two things that stood out to me. 1. I thought Layla jumped into the relationship with Leo pretty quickly, even though she had been without a relationship for 4 1/2 years, granted they did know each other as children. 2. I thought it was a big faux pas, that Leo had forgotten to mention his son, I would’ve thought that would have brought up red flags for Layla. I am pretty old fashioned, but I think intimate relationships should be reserved for marriage. 4 stars. (I couldn’t find it on any site to review)
Loved this wonderful story about Layla, Leo, the farm animals and how love can survive over the years. Her uncle’s Montana gifts to her were so.meaningful because of earlier times visiting him there. Kayla also needed a peaceful environment and a new meaning to life. Good author and we’ll written.
A short sweet romance about a disillusioned big city woman who inherits a ranch and reunites with the childhood friend who has turned into a gorgeous man.

Wow Nessa Nichols’s goes right to a person’s heart with her books, New Beginnings is no different. Inheriting a cabin on a lake would be anyone’s dream but to find out an old friend has turned into a hunk is an added bonus. Leo has longing for someone he could love and Layla fits the bill perfectly. A great clean romance that any reader would enjoy.
